The goal of the CAL FIRE training program is to ensure quality
service to the public by developing the knowledge, skills,
and abilities of all CAL FIRE employees. This is accomplished
through training that is economical, effective and consistent
with the needs of the public, the state and the employee.
Donna McCain is the Training Officer for the Lassen-Modoc-Plumas
Unit. Chief McCain is responsible for coordinating
all of the training activities and courses for the staff
of the Lassen-Modoc-Plumas Unit. In addition to coordinating
unit, region and state training classes for staff, Chief
McCain is responsible for the Unit's annual Eagle Lake
Exercise where all station and camp personnel come together
to train on hoselays, urban interface fire fighting,
structure fire protection preparedness, using a vehicle
as a refuge, low angle rescue, crew tool-up, and basic
fire knowledge. In addition to the training provided
at the Eagle Lake Exercise, administrative staff perform
vehicle safety inspections.
